About The Event
Join First Church in Belmont as we participate in an interfaith initiative aiming to build hope and take faith-based action to draw attention to the urgency of our climate crisis by gathering to hold signs and ringing the church bell.
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of every month, various faith communities gather to draw attention to this pressing issue collectively. We come together to ring church bells, strike Buddhist gongs and singing bowls, recite the 99 names of Allah, sing nasheed (Islamic songs), recite the Quran, or play instruments like the daf or djembe for 11 minutes following a prayer, meditation, or poetry gathering.
We foster community bonds by joining these monthly gatherings and spreading awareness by distributing informational fliers about ongoing climate action calls. Additionally, we plan and commit to challenging ourselves to take further actions by the next month. This initiative speaks truth to power and emphasizes the significance of the 11th hour.
