About The Event
Too long to be a short story, not long enough for a novel, the novella holds a unique place in literature. Some of the greatest writers of the past 200 years have tried their hand at this sub-genre of fiction. In this program we will read and discuss four memorable novellas: Nikolai Gogol’s The Overcoat, Katherine Anne Porter’s Pale Horse, Pale Rider, Willa Cather’s The Old Beauty, and J. L. Carr’s A Month in the Country. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants. If you are interested, please contact Peter Guthrie at peter.guthrie@verizon.net. The program will meet on Sundays from 2:00-3:00 in the library on March 2, 16, 30, and April 13.
