About The Event
Join us the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30p.m.
We are a small, long-running group meeting monthly to discuss the interplay of spirituality and science. There is generally a small set of reading followed by lively, intriguing discussion.
On October 26th at 7:30 PM, John Eggert will lead a discussion around the question, “What do you personally mean when you use the word ‘spiritual’ or “spirituality.” To broaden your horizons on the possibilities, you are encouraged to read Wikipedia’s discussion of the historical and present uses of the term. Here is a link to that extended entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiritualism
At the beginning of the session, you will be offered the opportunity (optional) to briefly give your own answer to the question, after which we will have a more general discussion about related questions that arise from the group, for example:
· Given the broad and often ambiguous definitions of the term “spirituality,” what purpose does the word serve in our discussions of the same?
· What is the relationship between the concepts of religion and spirituality?
· What is not spiritual?
