An Invitation to Learn About a New Model for Supporting Displaced People

Massachusetts is facing unsustainable pressure on its shelter system, as waves of people have fled countries seeking safer places to live. Addressing this crisis, Places to Thrive is a Massachusetts nonprofit organization established in 2023 to support the resettlement of people who have been forcibly displaced by war, violence, persecution, and other life-threatening situations. Central to the organization’s model is home-shares offered by people with an extra room in their house, guests who share commonalities with hosts, and a support team of volunteers to help connect people to community resources. If you’re interested in learning more about this effort and how you can be involved, you can register for one of four Places to Thrive information sessions:

We’re hoping that a group of us from FCB will come together to support this initiative. Questions? Contact Eva Patalas, e.patalas@verizon.net, or Katharine Canfield, katharine.canfield@gmail.com.
