Trans Day of Visibility—How Can You Show Support?

March 31 marks Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV)—a time to celebrate, uplift, and advocate for trans and nonbinary individuals. This year, there are several ways you can show support and take action. Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Attend the Evan Greer Event

We are thrilled that activist and musician Evan Greer will be performing, thanks to the Belmont Library (which has rented space at All Souls Episcopal Church). This is a powerful opportunity to engage with trans rights through music and activism. Registration is required, so be sure to sign up in advance!

2. Share and Discuss TDOV Slides

Thanks to Gladys Unger, we have a set of informational slides highlighting and celebrating trans and non-binary individuals and the current realities they face. Consider displaying these slides in common areas or using them to spark discussion. The more we educate ourselves and others, the stronger our advocacy becomes.

3. Purchase Belmont Welcomes Yard Signs

We have Belmont Welcomes signs available for distribution across town. These signs send a strong message of inclusion. If you’d like one, we can arrange a drop-off. A small donation of $5–$10 is appreciated, but signs are also available for free. Contact Gladys at gladys.unger@gmail.com for more info.

4. PFLAG Meeting for Parents of Trans or Gender Nonconforming Kids

If you or someone you know is a parent of a transgender or gender nonconforming child, PFLAG Belmont hosts a monthly in-person support group at First Church. To attend or learn more, email cvbcaravala@gmail.com.

5. Tune In to Our Podcast: "More Than Visible"

Our Intern Minister Kyle Belmont, recently gave a powerful sermon on trans visibility, asking, “What does it mean to be visible?” As we observe TDOV, we invite you to reflect on the complexities of visibility and how we can create a community of true belonging and mutual flourishing. Listen to the sermon, which will be live shortly, under the Worship tab (Past Sermons) on our church website.

Our faith calls us to stand on the side of love and justice. Whether you attend an event, help with signs, join a discussion, or support parents of trans youth, your involvement makes a difference!
