About The Event

We're excited to announce the last selections of the church year for the First Church Book Group! We will be diving into: April 24: Tamed and Untamed: Close Encounters of the Animal Kind, by Sy Montgomery and Elizabeth Marshall Thomas This is a collection of very short essays by two nature writers and friends. It’s about 200 pages long. May 22:  Fathers and Sons, by Ivan Turgenev The title of this classic has also been translated as “Fathers and Children.” This book, also about 200 pages long, is another look at the generation gap. The new Slater translation has been very well received, but read any version you choose. June 26:  The Flag, the Cross, and the Station Wagon: A Graying American Looks Back at His Suburban Boyhood and Wonders What the Hell Happened, by Bill McKibben. This book is a consideration of faith, patriotism, and prosperity in our society over the last 50 years. It was written by a fine writer who grew up next door, so to speak, in Lexington. The book group is open to all. For more information and the Zoom link, email Christine O'Neill at bookgroup@uubelmont.org.
