Rest as Resistance

February 15 · 11:00 AM · Sanctuary

As we work tirelessly for liberation and love, it is crucial that we also rest, and this is sometimes hard. We will celebrate the importance of keeping ourselves fresh for the long struggle and holy work before us. Worship is multigenerational and childcare will be provided. Music will feature Casey Hannan on organ, and “The Peace of Wild Things,” a gorgeous choral setting of the Wendell Berry poem by Jake Runestad.

Words of Offering

Offertory “Du Bist Die Ruh,” by Franz Schubert; Camila Parias, soprano

You are repose and gentle peace.

You are longing and what stills it.

Full of joy and grief I consecrate to you

my eyes and my heart as a dwelling place.

Come in to me and softly close

the gate behind you.

Drive all other grief from my breast.

Let my heart be full of your joy.

The temple of my eyes is lit

by your radiance alone: O, fill it completely!

Doxology

From all that dwell below the skies;

Let words of love and peace arise;

Let joyful songs of praise be sung;

Through every land by every tongue. Amen.
