Listening Circles March 29 · 11:30 AM · Parlor The Committee on Ministry is offering four opportunities for congregants to share feedback on church life, set apart by topic. These will take place after church on February 8, March 8, March 29, and April 26. The sessions will last one hour. The topics are, respectively, Caring, Communication, Children’s Religious Exploration, and Adult Religious Education. The conversations will be reflected in our report at the Annual Meeting. For these reasons and more, we are proud to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula. Lifespan Sexuality Education for all ages Kindergarten & 1st Grade There is curriculum for Our Whole Lives (OWL) for Kindergarten or First Grade. We hope to offer the program in the future, but until that time we have many resources to share with families. < Back Youth Advisor Reports to: Youth & RE Coordinator Type: Volunteer Location: On Site Hours: 2-4 hours/week Salary: N/A About the Role Overview: We are looking for caring, reliable volunteers to serve as Youth Advisors for our Unitarian Universalist (UU) youth group. Advisors mentor and support youth in building community, exploring spirituality, and living out UU values. Commitment: Attend weekly youth group meetings on Sundays (2 hours) and occasional special events. Commit to at least one full church year (September–June); a 3–4 year commitment is preferred. Strive not to miss more than two consecutive weeks of youth programming. Attend advisor trainings and complete required background checks. Responsibilities: Build positive, supportive relationships with youth. Help plan and facilitate activities, discussions, and service projects. Model UU values, ethical leadership, and healthy boundaries. Maintain communication with staff and uphold youth safety policies. Ideal Qualities: Enthusiastic about working with teens. Strong communication and listening skills. Committed to inclusion, equity, and youth empowerment. Flexible, dependable, and team-oriented. Committee on Ministry To act as a feedback loop for the Senior Minister and the Parish Board on what the CoM members hear, see, or sense about the Church’s ministries and congregational experience. To provide an annual report to the Senior Minister, Parish Board, and congregation regarding the status of our community. To collaborate with the Parish Board President for the annual evaluation of the Senior Minister. Our members utilize their skills in event coordination, costume organizing, set construction, and hospitality to create memorable experiences for everyone involved. Regular monthly meetings will ensure consistent progress and realignment of priorities as needed. Additionally, members will engage in one-on-one or small group discussions to address specific needs and ensure the effective execution of communication objectives on an as-needed basis. We create inclusive and engaging programs that reflect our principles of compassion, justice, and interconnection while fostering a sense of belonging among young people and their families. By ensuring a diverse curriculum, providing resources for family involvement, and creating safe spaces for exploration, we empower the next generation to develop their beliefs and values in a supportive environment. Additionally, we recruit and train dedicated volunteers to lead our programs with compassion and integrity without whom our programming would not be possible.
