Your First Visit Welcome to The First Church in Belmont, Unitarian Universalist We’re so glad you’re here. Whether you're just beginning or deconstructing your spiritual journey, or simply searching for a new church home, you are warmly invited to explore our vibrant, justice-seeking, and multigenerational community. What to Expect on Sunday During the church year (mid September - mid June) our Sunday worship services take place at 9:00 am and 11:00 am, with programs and activities for people of all ages. Services last about an hour and include music, reflection, readings, and a homily or sermon rooted in Unitarian Universalist values . After each service, we invite you to join us for coffee, conversation, and connection in the Upper Gathering Hall just outside the Sanctuary. We have several Sundays throughout the church year where we offer only one service at 10:30 am in an effort to bring our entire community together. These include our four outdoor services held on the Town Green, the Major Music Service, our Partner Church service and a few more, so be sure to check our calendar . Every Sunday during the summer (mid June - mid September) we host community-based lay-led services at 10:00 am only in the Parish Hall. Come As You Are There’s no dress code—some people wear jeans, some wear their Sunday best. You’ll be welcome however you arrive. Our historic building is wheelchair accessible. As a Welcoming Congregation , we are committed to offering a safe and affirming space for members the 2LGBTQIA+ community, and we strive to create an inclusive environment for all. Bringing Children? Children are always welcome, and there are many Sundays where multigenerational worship is the Religious Exploration offering for that week . On other weeks we offer age-based classes during the service for children and youth ages birth-eighth grade. Nursery care is available year-round for our youngest visitors. Learn more about our Children's Religious Exploration program and our Sunday evening Youth Group for high school aged youth. Music and Community Music is central to the life of First Church. Each service includes performances by our talented musicians, choirs, and instrumentalists. You’ll also find opportunities to participate in community groups, classes, and events throughout the week. Finding Us We’re located at 404 Concord Avenue, Belmont, MA. Our church has a parking lot, along with free street parking nearby and easy access by public transportation.   • Adult Choirs | First Church in Belmont

    There are two active adult choirs at First Church. During worship services, the choirs lend a spiritual and emotional backdrop to the spoken word. The choirs also engender a sense of community and spirituality among participants both within and outside of worship services and other First Church events. Adult Music Programs Email Us For More Info There are two active adult choirs at First Church. During worship services, the choirs lend a spiritual and emotional backdrop to the spoken word. The choirs also engender a sense of community and spirituality among participants both within and outside of worship services and other First Church events. Adult Music Programs The Senior Choir is an auditioned choir of approximately 34 voices. Anyone with some musical background and an interest in singing is welcome to audition. In addition to singing weekly in the 11am Sunday service, the Senior Choir presents a major choral work with a professional orchestra twice a year. Each section of the Senior Choir is anchored by a professional singer. These outstanding vocalists perform as soloists or in ensembles during regular weekly services, major music services, and other concerts throughout the year. Our current section leaders are: Camila Parias, Soprano Laura Couch, Alto Kartik Ayysola, Tenor Chuck Claus, Baritone The Nova Choir The Nova choir is an un-auditioned choir of approximately 15 singers. Anyone with an interest in singing, regardless of experience or training, is welcome to join us! We rehearse on Thursdays from 6:45-8:00 pm in the sanctuary and sing twice monthly in worship services at 9:00 am.     Learn about the audio and visual equipment available for events at The First Church in Belmont. Includes microphone, projector, speaker system, and WiFi details for Parish Hall rentals. Audio/Visual Equipment The Parish Hall is the only rental space at the church equipped with audio/visual (A/V) technology. Use of these features is included in the Parish Hall rental fee. Available A/V Equipment in the Parish Hall: Two wireless handheld microphones Speaker system with auxiliary input (for use with phones or other devices) Overhead projector and screen Compatible with DVD, flash drive, or laptop Open guest WiFi network Please note: Church staff can demonstrate how to use A/V equipment during setup. However, staff are not available to provide technical support, operate equipment during events, or assist with live-streaming or recording. If your event includes presentations, video, or amplified sound, we recommend bringing your own tech support or testing your equipment in advance.
