FCB Green: Climate Crisis Responders' Newsletter, January 2024

Dear FCB Climate Crisis Responders,

Here are some opportunities for climate action and education for the month of January.

Thanks for your participation!

Priscilla, for FCB Green

1) Eleventh Hour Bell Ringing

Thursday, January 11, 10:45 - 11:15 am

First Church in Belmont

Please join us on Thursday (and on the 11th of every month) in front of First Church to hold signs and ring the church bells for eleven minutes at 11 am to bring attention to the urgency of the climate crisis.

2) Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act (BFFPPA)

Advocate for the federal Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act (BFFPPA), shifting responsibility onto polluters, creating national bottle refunds, banning non-recyclable single-use plastics, and spurring future environmental justice protections. Tell your representatives to pass the BFFPPA now.

3)  Environmental Justice and Building Our New Grid - Where Should It All Go?

Saturday, January 20th, 2 pm - 3:30 pm

Hybrid Event: In person at First Parish Concord - 20 Lexington Rd and online

Join the MA Environmental Justice Legislative Table to discuss the elephant in the room- how do we build the renewable distributed electric grid we need fast while not repeating the mistakes of the past? Learn more about our vision for infrastructure, energy democracy, and centering frontline communities in the process- as well as the current policy proposal from the EJ Table to greenlight good projects fast and nip bad projects in the bud.

4) Donate to Interfaith Power & Light

"Your investment will help us fund programs like Cool Congregations that motivate people of faith to take action to address the climate crisis. Your investment also helps us fund our Faith Votes program, which gives people the tools and resources to become advocates for equitable climate policies. Your investment helps us reach more faithful voters and build our national movement to protect our Sacred Earth. It's more imperative than ever to work towards a thriving planet for all."
