What's Happening in RE This Sunday?

Hello Families,

This Sunday December 7th is a Curriculum Sunday! Children will be invited to start in worship and depart together after the story downstairs to class. A One-Room-Schoolhouse Style RE Lesson is offered during the 9:00am service. Age-Based RE classes are offered during the 11:00am service.


Upcoming "A Charlie Brown Christmas" Concert and Holiday Party:

On December 6th, the Music Program and Religious Education Program will co-host a Holiday Party! The Heather Pierson Trio performs the entirety of ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ album. After the concert, stay for a wonderful holiday party, full of food, crafts and fun for the whole family! Volunteering Opportunity at the Holiday Party:

Are you interested in volunteering or donating to the Holiday Party? We need volunteers to help with Craft Tables, and volunteers will receive a free ticket to the event! You can sign up on this spreadsheet: 2025 Holiday Party Volunteer Signup - Google Sheets.


Red Cross Infant Babysitting and CPR Class:

Class will take place Sunday, December 21st 11:30am - 6:00pm with breaks and lunch. It wull be held at First Church in Belmont in the Parish Hall. After you successfully complete the class, you will be Red Cross CPR Certified! If you are a nursery care worker at FCB or plan to be, the cost is covered. If you are a member of First Church in Belmont, there is no cost. If you are not a member, the cost is $150. More information and sign-up here.


Special Update:


We invite you to sign up your 5th, 6th, 8th, or 9th grade youth for the Our Whole Lives program! The 5th/6th grades class will run from January to March, and the 8th/9th grades class will run from January to early June. OWL is a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula which provides honest, accurate information about sexuality. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. There are limits on class sizes, so please register soon!



This Sunday's Lessons

9:00am Children's Lesson: This week for All Ages Lesson during the 9:00am service, we will learn about gratitude with a lesson including games and a story.


11:00am Classes: 

  • Nursery care and free play will always be available for children 0 - 3 years old during both services.

  • Spirit Play (preK-K-1st Grade): Preschoolers, kindergarteners, and first graders are doing Spirit Play -- a Montessori style curriculum based in stories and wondering questions. This week's story is called "God is in Each of Us." 

  • Elementary School Class, Grades 2 - 4: This class will be doing a UU values curriculum this Fall. This Sunday, they will learn about Generosity.

  • Middle School Class, Grades 5 - 8: This class will be doing a UU values program this Fall. This Sunday's lesson is about Equity.

  • Coming Of Age Class, Grade 9: This class we will continue the curriculum on Belonging.

  • Youth Group: Youth Group will NOT meet this Sunday, as we are helping out with the Social Action Gift Fair instead.

December 14th -- Multigenerational Worship

December 21st -- Multigenerational Worship (Children's Choir service)

December 24th -- Christmas Eve services at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, and 11pm

December 28th -- Multigenerational Worship

January 4th -- Curriculum Sunday and First day of OWL!

December 1st (TODAY) -- Welcome Table Dinner for Families! From 5:00-7:00pm. Come with your family and appetite! More information here.
