What's Happening in RE this Sunday?

Hello Families,
This Sunday January 18th is Children's Chapel, meaning that during each service there will be one class for all children! This week the theme of Children's Chapel will be Justice and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
New RE Child Pickup Policy: We are excited that some enthusiastic volunteers are bringing back food to coffee hour! With this shift, many children are excitedly dashing up to the Upper Gathering Hall after RE class. We want to make sure that children are reunited with their families after RE and service concludes. We also want to make sure that volunteer RE teachers have an opportunity to attend coffee hour. So starting in the New Year, please pick up your child from RE Class promptly when the service ends before going to coffee hour. This applies to any child 6th Grade and younger. If your child is not picked up, they will be dropped off at the nursery until you are able to collect them. Thank you for working with us to ensure a smooth transition between class and coffee hour!

Bingo, Pizza, and Prizes on January 17th at 5:30pm. It’s time for Bingo, pizza and prizes! Bring your family and friends for a fun night at First Church. Transylvania partner church service and lunch on Sunday 1/25, 10:30am. Did you know that we have a close partnership with a Unitarian church in Transylvania? We are having a simulcast service with them on Jan. 25 in the Parish Hall—please stay after service to enjoy homemade Hungarian lunch! There will be pasta with butter for kids who prefer.
2026 Women's Retreat at First Church on February 20 & 21. The 2026 Women’s Retreat will take place February 20–21, beginning Friday from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and continuing Saturday from 8:30 am–5:00 pm. Centered on Gratitude in Our Lives, this year's Women's Retreat includes conversation, crafts, storytelling, and guided meditation. The cost is $85 and includes wine and cheese on Friday evening and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Participants are asked to bring a meaningful object for an activity and a book for the book swap. We are aware that this falls during Belmont school vacation, and the scheduling will be different in future years! Register here.
